Shetland Holidays in UNST: Surely the last great adventure in Europe!
Situated in the wild North Atlantic, less than 200 miles from Norway and on the same latitude as southern Greenland, Unst is the most northerly populated island in the British Isles.
Although small in size – it is a mere 12 miles long by 5 wide – it possesses magnificent scenery, a special culture and an extraordinarily rich natural and cultural heritage.
Here you will discover fascinating and varied geology, intriguing archaeology & history, a rich fauna & flora, a vibrant local culture, and warm and welcoming people, and you can walk, fish and bicycle wherever you want.
However, Unst has something more to offer: something elemental. Wherever you go you will feel both the power of the natural forces around you and an overwhelming sense of space, freedom and peace. You will feel at one with the two absolutes of the North: limitless ocean and free air.
A visit to Unst really is "The last great adventure in Europe".

Saxa Vord and Unst Regeneration Growers Enterprise (URGE) were winners in the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards 2011 - 'Best Supplier Partnership' category, this builds on our short listing last year for the Dining Out Experience Tourist Award.
Originally built as a home-from-home for the families of the RAF personnel manning the nearby radar station, Saxa Vord has been transformed into a warm, comfortable and welcoming base for people wishing to explore, discover, understand and enjoy all that Unst and Shetland have to offer.
You can choose from one of our Nordabrake Self Catering Houses or our Hostel, perfect for individuals, couples, families or parties of all shapes, sizes and interests: birdwatchers, geologist, archaeologists - anyone with an interest in Shetland. We also now have newly furbished accommodation available; Shackleton Lodge, which can sleep up to 12 people in nine seperate bedrooms. It is ideal for school trips or groups making the most of the outdoor activities that Unst have to offer.
